The
Parents Association is the present day evolution of what our mothers
may have referred to as “the Mothers Club”. But if the term “Mothers Club”
brings to mind a vision of pristine, apron clad women, swapping gossip
and recipes for home-baked goods; then rest assured times have
certainly changed.
Parents Association membership is open to both
Mums and Dads. Today's parents have a varied life style as compared to
past generations and finding time for helping children at school is
difficult. However the initial concept of Mother’s Club was to provide
a support network for parents, to fund raise and to be of service to the
school community and in these objectives, nothing has changed today.
Dingley Primary School’s Parents Association is a social and
service group that exists to benefit and assist the school that our
children attend. We fund raise to provide many of those essential
“extras” such as additional computers, sunshades and team sports uniforms.
We provide services like the on-site Uniform Shop so that parents,
particularly those who work full-time, can obtain school uniforms in
an easy and cost-effective way. We are there to support, assist and advise
our parents and students throughout their school experience from Prep
Orientation to Grade 6 Graduation.
We organise social events
so that parents can have some valuable time out with other people who
truly understand the value of timeout! We organise and participate in a
variety of school activities including Prep Orientation, Mother and
Father’s Day stalls, Fundraising, Grade 6 Graduation and are the
highly successful annual fete.
Our Parents Association members are
a diverse and friendly group of people from all backgrounds. We meet
about once a month, on a Monday morning in the staff room. Notification of
our meetings appear in the calendar section of the school newsletter.
Our meetings usually involve some lively discussion, the odd argument,
lots of laughter, oh and we do manage to get some work done too! As a
member of the Parents Association, not only will you have a real
opportunity to enhance your child’s school and their school
experience, but you will also enhance your school experience. You will
be challenged and engaged, you will never be bored, you will forge life
long friendships, and you may benefit from the advice and experience
of “older” parents who have already “been there and done that”. You
will have fun. Interested in joining us?
